Balatonvilágos: It is a locality running along a length of around 5 kilometres on the south-eastern beach of Lake Balaton. Motorway M7 ends at its borders, on the beach the cottages of the holiday resort and on the hill, the houses of the village line up.
The young locality was established via the merger of two holiday resorts, Aliga and Világos. The shallow water, the sandy lake-bed, the peaceful environment provide the families with small children with excellent recreation.
The history of the village can be counted from 1961 in the reality because it belonged to Balatonfőkajár until that year and it has been an independent village since then. Its name is also characteristic: it is presumed that Aliga received its name of an existing inn and Világos (meaning “light”) received its name of the light colour of the earth here. Balatonvilágos was first mentioned under the name “Világos farm-stead” in the cadastre survey held in 1857. The village started developing from 1961, today more than 400 families live here but in the summer several thousands of holiday-makers can be seen here. The Club Aliga hotel centre is one of the outstanding tourism service providing centres of the Balaton beach. The bed of Lake Balaton is sandy here, the water is shallow, even people that cannot swim can enjoy the water safely on several hundreds of metres. The peaceful, clean environment is ensured for nice family holidays.
